European Union legislation establishes that websites using cookies—practically all of them— must inform users about their use and obtain their consent to employ them.

– General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, 2018).
This means that users must be able to choose which cookies to accept (except those strictly necessary).
In addition to obtaining consent, clear information must be provided in a Privacy Policy or in a Data Protection Notice.

There are tools that allow accepting or rejecting analytical, marketing, or advertising cookies, as well as modifying or withdrawing consent easily. They also serve to record and evidence user consent.
